Possums

A Possum is a member of the Marsupial group, as is a kangaroo. As North America’s only representative, these slow moving creatures with a beautiful grey-black-white coat and naked tail have made it this far north by hitch-hiking on trains and trucks from the south. For nearly 20-years possum populations have grown and contracted with the severity of the winter and have become an accepted urban pest here. Largely harmless, these creatures will inhabit spaces below decks, garages, or just about anywhere where humans may not or rarely go. They are omnivores, like raccoons, and our garbage skills, or lack of them, supply plenty of food year round; Possums largely hibernate over winter.
