American Cockroaches As North Americans named the German Cockroach, Germans named the American Cockroach. Readily identifiable, this large roach can grow up to two inches in length. Also known as the “flying water bug and the palmetto bug” female American Cockroaches produce one egg capsule (containing 14 to 16 eggs) per day until 15 to 90 capsules are produced, nymphs hatch out in 50 to 55 days. Like other roaches, American Cockroaches feed on mostly organic materials, many of which humans also consume. Gels are very effective in the control and eradication of American Cockroaches, but knowing how, and where, to use the gels is of utmost importance.
